Staying in Sri Lanka with kids and family old and young is a great experience. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming everywhere you go. You might be hard locating a changing room in local bars and restaurants but you’ll find locals are very accommodating and helpful in most places.
The beach by Monara House (locally known as Wijaya Beach) is only 5 minutes away and just happens to be one of the only beaches on the South Coast where you can actually enjoy a safe swim all year round without having to tackle surfers and strong currents. If you’re lucky you may also meet the local Sea turtles who visit the pool year around to feed. After your swim and swing on the now instafamous Thalpe Rope Swing you’ll most likely find yourself at Wijaya Beach Bar & Restaurant sipping on a cocktail or beer while watching one of the world’s most stunning sunsets.
