Horton Plains Tea Plantation
Located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, the Horton Plains was and still is the dominant hub for tea production in the country. Visiting the plains rewards you with a picturesque landscape of terraced columns of tea plantations with tea pickers hard at work. Sip some of the finest tea in the world and enjoy a glorious view. Train to Ella and Back
This is, by far, one of the most exciting things you could do in Sri Lanka. The 7-hour train ride takes you through impeccable terraces of tea plantations, lush forests of green and an experience that compares to no other. You would have to buy a second or a third class ticket to truly experience the adrenaline rush from leaning out the train compartment.
Sigiriya’s Citadel Rock
Dubbed to be the eighth wonder of the world by locals, the Sigiriya rock is an architectural masterpiece built on nature’s creation. The rock was sculpted to resemble a lion, that eventually eroded away, leaving behind the paws of the lion. You will be treated with a sea of trees that almost seem endless, a blissful experience and a memory to take back home.

If there is something you cannot miss, it would unquestionably be the food in Sri Lanka. Although on the spicy side, Sri Lankan cuisine is completely unique in its own special way. Kottu Roti, Hoppers, Seeni Sambol are some of the most delicious food in the country. Available everywhere in the country, make sure you indulge in some spicy sambols.
Sinharaja RainForest
The Last remnant of Sri Lanka’s tropical rainforest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sinharaja rainforest is nearly untouched and undisturbed by external elements. The forest is home to over 800 endemic species and over 200 species of trees. Sprawling through the forest, searching for elusive birds, there are two distinct trails you could take that lead you to a peak and a magnificent view.
Dambulla Rock Temple
The Dambulla rock temple is of major historical significance to the local Sri Lankans. Five Caves of the temple house several statues and sculptures of the various personages of Buddha. The temple is a popular tourist stop and a magnet to photographers and bloggers alike.
Adam’s Peak
By far, the most popular destination for tourist and locals alike. The Adam’s peak has one of the most humbling and eye-opening view in the world and an experience that transcends your entire visit to Sri Lanka. The climb to the peak is relatively easy with people to guide you to the top.
The Infamous Rope Swing
If you are travelling to Sri Lanka, the rope swing is a must on the list of things you want to do. Although there are palm tree rope swings throughout the country, the rope swing at the Dalawella beach is the best of the lot.
